I know it is the middle of winter, everyone is sick and tired of being cold, so Vince has a little feel good story to warm the heart and soul. Whether you love him, or love to hate him, UWE veteran Levi Blue has a story few know. The resident redneck bad boy was separated from his brother when he was 12. Being so young, he lacked the resources to find and remain in contact with his brother. You know how it is when families separate sometimes: you go your way, I will go mine and we will call it good. So Levi went on with his life and put his brother to the back of his mind. He continued to wonder where his brother is and what he is doing now.
Long time fans know Gladwin is UWE territory. All of the local businesses know Eric on sight and cheerfully greet him with, "Oh the wrestlers are back." They happily hang posters in their shop windows. What are the odds that Levi's brother lives in Gladwin and would see a poster? Pretty good, because that is exactly what happened. After seeing the poster, and being a wrestling fan, he went to the UWE website to check it out. While going over the roster he found Levi and then contacted him through the link on his profile. UWE officials are leaving two complimentary tickets at the gate, so that Levi can reunite with his long lost sibling. So, if Road Dogg's presence was not momentous enough, a reunion over 20 years in the making should be the icing on the cake.
Until next time, this is Vince Ventura. Good night and God bless!
Ok. The cat is out of the bag, or more aptly, The Dogg. Yes, headlining February 13th's Cabin Fever is former WWE/TNA Superstar Road Dogg B.G. James. His opponent has not been released yet but I am excited to see him in action, live in Northern Michigan. Eric Freedom was with The Dogg earlier this month and told me that Dogg is excited to be coming to Northern Michigan, since the furthest North he has been in a while is Lansing. Thanks to the UWE for bringing wrestling legends to the forgotten fans in Northern Michigan!! Eat your heart out Detroit!! Don't forget that first and second rows receive an 8x10 and private meet and greet with Dogg before the show. See ya there!
Alright UWE fans, your favorite reporter has some good news and some bad news. The good news, UWE will be returning to Gladwin at the high school! Bad news, it's not until February. So we will have to hold out a little longer for quality indie wrestling. Though the card hasn't been finalized, I have been told that some of our favorite UWE superstars will be in attendance, as well as some new faces. Scheduled to appear are Psychodelic Inc. (Electric Eric Freedom and Jimmy Blaze), The Lost Soul Chris Cairo, The Gameboy, The Pretty Boy Redneck Levi Blue and UWE Tag Team Chumpions...I mean Champions the Canadian Hit Squad with UWE Heavyweight Champion Rex Hart. The new faces on the horizon include Diamond Steele, The Prince, Terry Allen, Christopher Saint, Hardcore Craig, Brandon Bishop, and Cadillac Jones. I know I for one, am excited about seeing the guys I like as well as what the new guys can bring to the table. I've also been told that a former WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPION and former TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPION will be in action as well. Though I wasn't told the name of the superstar, I have a couple of guesses that maybe I will post on the forum. I'd like to hear your guesses too. The show is February 20th. Tickets will be available for purchase through the website starting November 1, 2009. Stay tuned for more information. Until next time, this is Vince Ventura. Good night and God bless!
For The Boys was a success in raising two BIG boxes of supplies for our troops. Thanks to those who came out and supported not only the UWE but also all of our deployed servicemen and women. We send our continued wishes for a speedy and safe return for all of our troops. On that note, one half of the former UWE Tag Team Champions, The Cocky Little Brats, "Top Dog" Asten Williams, has returned home from his tour of duty in Iraq. Eric spoke with "Top Dog" and he has plans of making the military his career, by becoming a drill instructor with the United States Army. We at UWE wish him all of the best.
UWE owes its longevity in Pro Wrestling to YOU, the fans. Your support has kept us motivated to continue bringing the best in family entertainment to Northern and Central Michigan. We are currently seeking new venues to host future events. If you would like UWE to run in your town, and have information on a building or school large enough to host a UWE event, please contact us at UWECW@yahoo.com or 231-775-5356. Please include building name, location and contact information and we will look into bringing an event to you. So until the next time, good night and God Bless, Vince.
Well Mat Mania was Awesome!! The introduction of The Great Malaki was unreal,he has an entourage that "summons" him up. Now where he's coming from, I don't know, but I don't think it's a happy place. ZaneRamsey was yet another new face that put on an impressive first showing by defeating The Gameboy. And the literal monsters brawl with Cyanide and Machine it spilled out of the ring and continued to the locker room!! But, perhaps the best news for this fan is the reforming of the tag team Psycho-Delic Inc., consisting of Eric Freedom and Jimmy Blaze,to go for the titles against The Canadian Hit Squad. There was even excitment on the outside of the ring as one of the fans had a mild siezure, the man was alright and went home on his own two feet, even the fans a tough at UWE. For The Boys is the next event and the folks at UWE are always helping out someone, this time it's our military peeps. The goal is to raise personal items to send to the troops of deployed UWE wrestlers. Now anything fans bring will not be wasted, they LOVE candy and snacks of any kind, medicated powder, baby wipes, any of the things we use daily and don't even think about. I have also been told toilet paper is a hot commodidity. The fans at UWE never disappoint in the department of giving, even in these trying times. So I look forward to seeing a HUGE bunch of stuff to ship out at For The Boys!! Until then Good Night , and God Bless.
All I can say is WOW!! The April 11 show at the Ice Arena was AWESOME!! We saw some old favorites return, I know I was glad to see Blaze, and I was NOT impressed by Team Canada. Can they win without cheating?? Probably NOT. And what about Cyanide? He looked as if he was going to eat poor referee PeeWee Pirella, that my friends is one mean dude. I know if I were a wrestler, I'd be terrified to be in the ring with him. Where did the UWE find this guy?,a prison for the criminally insane?? Anyway, the crowd was Rockin' as usual, and so was the wrestling,it's hard to say which was my favorite match. Now I have heard some inside information that there are plans for more changes in the company , including something really big toward Homecoming, but the lid is pretty tight on what exactly it is,though Eric has said it will blow the fans away. I have heard of some pretty cool things that are going to be introduced at each show. There will be an"old school wrestling look"coming to UWE. Now, being from a younger generation of wrestling fan, my old school doesn't go too far back. So , I am going to try and find some older dvds or stuff on the web as research to see what may be coming in. I would like to hear what you fans think this may mean, so drop me a line at askvinceventura@yahoo.com with your ideas ,and I will put together a predictions column for next time. I may even ask if anyone guesses correctly,if they can get some sort of prize.Don't hold me to that , I still have to check with the boss, but that would be cool.
- So until next time, this is Vince Ventura signing off,Goodnight America.
